Pixelmon Boss¶
Boss Pokemon wear a glowing aura and a name plate showing their boss tier. You cannot catch them: Poke Balls bounce off, so you defeat them for drops. They hit harder and hold far more HP than a normal Pokemon of the same species, and they pay out bonus Battling skill XP scaled to their tier.
Boss tiers¶
There are six standard tiers. When a wild spawn rolls boss, the tier is weighted like this:
| Tier | Chance of this tier |
|---|---|
| Common | 30% |
| Uncommon | 27% |
| Rare | 18% |
| Epic | 11% |
| Legendary | 8% |
| Ultimate | 6% |
Above these sit two server-exclusive super tiers: the Alpha Boss and, rarest of all, the Supreme Boss.
How tough they are¶
A boss fights at the highest level in your party plus a bump set by its tier:
| Tier | Level bump |
|---|---|
| Common | +5 |
| Uncommon | +10 |
| Rare | +20 |
| Epic | +30 |
| Legendary | +40 |
| Ultimate | +50 |
In the story regions and gym worlds the bump shrinks to +1 through +6 so bosses there stay beatable mid-story. Alphas always fight at a flat level 200 and Supremes at a flat level 300, ignoring your party level. A boss also full-heals to its recalculated max HP when the battle starts.
Higher tiers are worth far more Battling XP: the payout is the boss battle level times a tier multiplier that runs from 10x at Common up to 100x at Ultimate, then 150x for Alpha and 200x for Supreme.
Where they appear¶
- As Zone Bosses, a 1 in 250 roll on wild spawns inside the Catching Type Zones.
- Inside the Easy, Medium, and Hard Boss Zones of the Skill World.
- As Dungeon Bosses guarding a dungeon.
- As the Alpha Boss and Supreme Boss super tiers out in the overworld.
Every 40 boss Pokemon the server defeats triggers a server-wide Legendary Spawn, with progress broadcasts at 10, 20, and 30.
