Jobs¶
Jobs are optional bounties that pay you for the skill work you were already doing. Take one on, collect a set number of ores, logs, fish, berries, or thieving hauls, and claim money, Mystery Keys, and skill XP. You can hold one job in each of five skills at the same time.
How to access¶
Open the Jobs hub with /jobs. It shows the five job skills, each with your current job status. Click a skill to open its job board, where you can take a job or claim a finished one.
You can also visit the job NPCs in person. Five of them stand in the skill world, each offering jobs for one skill. Right-click one to open that skill's board.
| Job NPC | Skill |
|---|---|
| Mining Jobs | Mining |
| Fishing Jobs | Fishing |
| Woodcutting Jobs | Woodcutting |
| Gathering Jobs | Gathering |
| Thieving Jobs | Thieving |
Taking a job¶
- Each skill board offers three difficulties: Easy, Medium, and Hard. Pick one and you are handed a random job of that difficulty.
- Some jobs have a skill level requirement. If your level is too low for the difficulty you picked, you are given the hardest job you can currently do instead.
- You can hold one job per skill at once. To change a job before finishing it, you must reroll or abandon it first.
- A job stays with you for 4 hours. It never disappears on its own, but claiming after the 4 hours pays less (see Claiming late).
What each skill asks for¶
Every job names a specific target and a count to reach. Progress is tracked automatically as you play, and you get a message when a job is complete.
| Skill | Example targets |
|---|---|
| Mining | Mine a specific ore (stone, coal, iron, redstone, gold, silver, diamond, platinum) |
| Woodcutting | Chop a specific log or stem type (oak through cherry, plus crimson, warped, and chorus) |
| Fishing | Catch a specific fish in the biomes where it bites, or fish up Pokemon |
| Gathering | Pick a specific berry or apricorn color |
| Thieving | Steal from a named stall, pickpocket a group of NPCs, or loot cash registers |
Higher difficulties ask for larger counts, and higher-level targets are only offered once your skill level is high enough to reach them.
Rewards¶
Money and Mystery Keys are fixed by difficulty. Hard jobs also grant a Shiny Key. Skill XP scales within a range based on how tough the target is, so a Hard job for a high-level target pays more XP than a Hard job for an easier one.
| Difficulty | Money | Keys | XP range |
|---|---|---|---|
| Easy | $5,000 | 1 Mystery Key | 5,000 to 10,000 |
| Medium | $15,000 | 2 Mystery Keys | 15,000 to 30,000 |
| Hard | $30,000 | 3 Mystery Keys, 1 Shiny Key | 50,000 to 100,000 |
Claim a finished job from the skill board or the job NPC. Money goes to your bank, keys land in your inventory, and the XP is added to that skill.
Claiming late¶
A job's 4-hour window only affects the payout, never whether you can claim. Claim after the window closes and you receive half the money, half the keys (rounded down), and half the XP. The Shiny Key from Hard jobs is not given on a late claim. The board and NPC always show exactly what a claim would pay right now.
Rerolling and abandoning¶
If you do not like a job, you can pay to swap or clear it. Both cost the same, based on the job's difficulty:
| Difficulty | Reroll or abandon cost |
|---|---|
| Easy | $1,000 |
| Medium | $3,000 |
| Hard | $6,000 |
- Reroll swaps your current job for a fresh one of the same difficulty. Any progress on the old job is lost.
- Abandon clears the job with no replacement, so you can pick a new difficulty. Shift-click the reroll button to abandon.
Tips¶
- Progress tracks automatically, so line up a job for the skill you were about to grind anyway.
- Since you can hold one job per skill, keep five running at once for maximum payout.
- Aim to claim within the 4 hours. Late claims lose the Shiny Key and half of everything else.
