Outbreaks¶
Outbreaks are mass spawn events. Public outbreaks appear around the overworld on a timer, each led by an Alpha boss, and are open to everyone. Personal outbreaks are ones you start yourself by spending Poke Dust on a Pokemon you own. Both show up on the same /outbreaks board.
How to access¶
Open the board with /outbreaks (alias /outbreak). It lists every active outbreak, public and personal, soonest to expire first, and lets you teleport to one.
Public outbreaks¶
The server starts the first outbreak 5 minutes after it boots, then a new one every 25 minutes. Each outbreak lasts 20 minutes and covers a 50 block radius. The very first Pokemon to spawn in an outbreak is an Alpha, a boss version of the species.
Outbreaks draw from the server's own biome spawn tables, so the species that appears is one that genuinely lives in that biome and terrain. Legendaries, mythicals, and Ultra Beasts never appear, rarer species are less likely, and no two active outbreaks share a species. Shiny odds are the normal wild rate.
Terrain types¶
Each outbreak has a terrain type that decides where it sets up and which species can appear.
| Type | Where it appears | Roughly how often |
|---|---|---|
| Land | Open ground with sky above | 40% |
| Water | In or on a water body at least a few blocks deep | 25% |
| Sky | High up in open air | 15% |
| Underground | In a cave pocket | 12% |
| Treetop | Up in the leaves | 8% |
How many spawn¶
Outbreaks scale with the crowd. Every 5 seconds each outbreak tries to spawn one Pokemon per player standing inside its radius, so the more people who show up, the busier it gets. If nobody is nearby, nothing spawns until someone arrives (missed spawns are banked and catch up once someone does).
Public outbreaks never set up inside a land claim, and spawns skip any claim with spawns disabled.
The board and teleporting¶
Each outbreak tile shows its terrain type, the level range, the time remaining, the coordinates, and how far away it is. Teleporting to an outbreak is free if you are within 100 blocks of it, otherwise it costs $10,000. Underground outbreaks drop you at the surface with a note about how far to dig down.
Personal outbreaks¶
From the Poke Builder you can spend 100 Poke Dust to start a personal outbreak of a Pokemon you own. For the next 20 minutes your normal wild spawns are replaced with that species wherever you are, so you can farm it in bulk. Rare spawns (bosses, shinies, special palettes) are never replaced.
Personal outbreaks cannot be started for Ditto, legendary, mythical, or Ultra Beast Pokemon, and cannot begin in the skyblock or in a claim where spawns are disabled. Your active personal outbreak is listed first on the /outbreaks board so you can teleport back to it. Personal outbreaks do not include an Alpha.
Tip
Public outbreaks pay off in numbers: bring a fast catcher and a stack of balls, and remember the Alpha at the start is a boss worth beating. For grinding one specific species, a personal outbreak puts it under your feet for 20 minutes.
