Poke Dust and the Poke Builder¶
Poke Dust is a crafting-style currency you earn from Pokemon and spend to improve your own party. It comes in 18 kinds, one per type, and each kind is tracked separately. You spend it in the Poke Builder to edit a Pokemon's stats and cosmetics, or to start a personal outbreak.
How to access¶
/pokebuilder(alias/pb) opens the party editor. Pick a party Pokemon to open its edit session./pokedust(alias/pd) opens your dust balances, where you can withdraw dust as physical items.
Earning dust¶
The base amount of dust a Pokemon gives equals its evolution stage: 1 for a base or single-stage species, 2 for a middle stage, 3 for a fully evolved one. The type of dust is rolled from that Pokemon's own types (a coin flip for dual-types), so a fully evolved Fire/Flying Pokemon gives 3 Fire or 3 Flying dust.
- Catching a Pokemon banks the dust straight into your balance.
- Defeating a wild Pokemon drops physical dust in the loot menu. Right-click a dust item to bank it.
Catching and battling each track their own combo on the species you keep facing or catching (the two counters are separate). Your chance for the dust to be doubled equals your combo count as a percent, so a combo of 100 or more is a guaranteed double. Switching to a different species resets the combo.
Boss and raid Pokemon do not drop dust.
The Poke Builder editor¶
Open a party Pokemon in /pokebuilder, stage the changes you want, then confirm to pay for all of them at once. Everything is paid in that Pokemon's own type dust. For a dual-type you can choose which of its two types to spend, or combine both.
| Edit | Cost |
|---|---|
| Raise an IV | 40 dust per point added |
| Add EVs | 1 dust per 4 EV points added |
| Change nature | 100 dust |
| Change ability | 12 dust (36 dust for a Hidden Ability) |
| Change gender | 8 dust |
| Make unbreedable | 16 dust |
| Upgrade to shiny | 10,000 dust (25,000 for legendary, mythical, or Ultra Beast) |
| Raise level | scales with the levels gained (cheap early, up to 70 dust per level in the 90s) |
| Holographic particle | 500 dust |
| Ribbon tag | 100 dust |
| Start personal outbreak | 100 dust |
You only pay for IVs you raise and EVs you add, never for lowering or leaving them. EV cost rounds down per 4 points, so adding 1 to 3 EVs to a stat is free. IV edits are capped at 31 and the level edit is capped at 100.
A few limits: eggs cannot be edited, Ditto's IVs are locked, and shadow or tiered Pokemon cannot have their level raised.
Personal outbreaks¶
From a Pokemon's edit session you can spend 100 dust to start a personal outbreak of that species. For the next 20 minutes your normal wild spawns are replaced with that Pokemon, so you can farm it, hunt for a good one, or gather more dust. Rare spawns (bosses, shinies, special palettes) are never overwritten.
Personal outbreaks cannot be started for Ditto, legendary, mythical, or Ultra Beast Pokemon, and cannot be started in the skyblock or in a claim where spawns are disabled. Your active personal outbreak also shows up on the /outbreaks board so you can teleport back to it. See Outbreaks for the shared board.
Tip
Keep a catch or battle combo going on one species to double your dust intake, then pour it into IVs and EVs. Because dust is per type, farming the type you want to spend is the fastest route.
