World Votes¶
World votes let the server change the overworld's time of day and weather by majority vote. Anyone can start one with /timevote or /weathervote, no rank or cost required, and the change happens only if more players accept than deny.
How to access¶
| Command | What it does |
|---|---|
/timevote |
Start or answer a vote to change the time |
/weathervote |
Start or answer a vote to change the weather |
Running the command does different things depending on what is happening:
- No vote running and you are eligible: it opens a picker so you can choose an option and start the vote.
- A vote of that kind is already running: it opens a simple Accept or Deny menu so you can cast your vote.
- A vote of the other kind is running: you are asked to wait until it finishes, since only one vote of either kind can run at a time.
- You are on cooldown or you started the last vote of that kind: it opens a read-only info panel showing the current time or weather and how the previous vote turned out.
Starting a vote¶
The time picker offers eight times of day, and the weather picker offers three conditions.
| Vote | Options |
|---|---|
| Time | Dawn, Morning, Midday, 4:20 PM, Dusk, Night, Midnight, 4:20 AM |
| Weather | Clear, Rain, Storm |
Choosing an option announces your vote to the server and automatically counts you as the first Accept. Everyone else then runs the same command to open the Accept or Deny menu. You can switch your answer at any time while the vote is live; casting Accept clears a previous Deny and the other way around.
The boss bar¶
While a vote is running, a boss bar at the top of the screen tracks it for everyone, including players who log in partway through. It is yellow for time votes and blue for weather votes, and its title updates every second with the option being voted on, the time remaining, and the running Accept and Deny tally. The server also posts progress reminders in chat at one minute and at 30 seconds left.
How a vote passes¶
- A vote lasts 2 minutes.
- It passes on a strict majority: there must be more Accepts than Denies. A tie fails.
- There is no minimum turnout, so an uncontested vote passes on the starter's own Accept.
When the vote ends, the result and final tally are broadcast. If it passed, the overworld's time or weather changes right away. Time always moves forward to the chosen point rather than rewinding the day.
Cooldowns¶
Each vote type has its own 30-minute cooldown that begins when a vote of that kind finishes. During the cooldown, running that command shows the info panel instead of the picker. You also cannot start the same kind of vote twice in a row, so a different player has to kick off the next one.
Note
World votes only affect the overworld. Time and weather in other dimensions are never changed.
