Found Chests

Found Chests turn the ordinary chests scattered through generated structures into loot to discover. Any naturally generated chest you have not opened yet, in villages, temples, mineshafts, fortresses, End cities, and the like, is a Found Chest waiting to be looted. On top of that, clusters of fresh chests called Treasure Troves spawn out in the world for everyone to race to.

How it works

There is no command to place or find these chests: they are already out in the world. Just explore and open chests you come across.

  • Right-click a naturally generated chest you have not opened. The first open fills it with freshly generated loot and marks it as looted.
  • Looting one gives you a "You found an unlooted chest!" message, Thieving experience, and the loot itself.
  • After that first open, it becomes an ordinary chest you can use for storage.
  • Chests that players placed themselves are never Found Chests, so your own bases are safe.

Found Chests appear in the Overworld, the Nether, and the End. Ordinary Found Chests do not respawn: each is lootable once.

Loot

Every Found Chest rolls its own loot, so no two are the same. Contents can include:

  • Vanilla Minecraft items and Pixelmon items.
  • Stacks of Poke Balls of all kinds, with a rare shot at a Master Ball or Park Ball.
  • Mystery Keys and Shiny Mystery Keys, Rare, Epic, and Grow candies, Shiny Mystery Goo, mints, orbs, and other special items.
  • A rare chance at a collectible Plushie.

In the Overworld and Nether a chest fills several slots, and the number scales with your Thieving skill: higher Thieving level and prestige, and the Netherite Gloves item, add bonus loot slots. End chests instead hold a single tiered drop (with a shot at an Elytra). Thieving experience per chest is larger the deeper the dimension.

Dimension Thieving experience
Overworld 500
Nether 750
End 1,000

Tip

About 1 in 100 Overworld chests is rigged. Opening one either summons an Alpha Gimmighoul to guard the spot, or spits out an Electrode that primes like TNT and detonates after five seconds, scattering up to five loose chests nearby (starting a battle with the Electrode defuses it). Click a scattered chest to spew gold coins, or, 1 time in 5, a Shiny Mystery Key.

Treasure Troves

A Treasure Trove is a cluster of brand-new chests that spawns out in the Overworld on a repeating timer (paused while nobody is online). When one appears, the whole server is told roughly where it landed.

  • Each trove drops 12 to 20 chests at a random unclaimed surface spot within 15,000 blocks of spawn (0, 0).
  • Every trove chest is a full Found Chest with the usual loot, Thieving experience, and bonus slots.
  • The first chest looted in a trove holds a guaranteed Shiny Mystery Key, and the finder is announced to the server.

Use /trove to print the active trove's coordinates and turn yourself to face it. If no trove is currently up, it tells you so.
