Orre¶
Orre is a self-contained campaign based on the Orre games, separate from the nine story regions. It is a desert region run by the criminal group Cipher, whose trainers field Shadow Pokemon you can steal in battle. Instead of gyms and badges, Orre is a 30-quest story that takes you from a roadside stand all the way to the top of Mt. Battle.
Getting there¶
Type /orre, or use the Orre button in /menu. The first time you visit, you choose an Orre starter from the Eevee family: Eevee, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Flareon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, or Sylveon. Your pick arrives at level 30 with a small chance to be shiny, and you are dropped at the Outskirt Stand to begin.
The story¶
Orre has 30 numbered story quests, played in order. Run /quest at any time to see your current objective. The trail runs through Phenac City, Pyrite Town, Agate Village, Mt. Battle, The Under, the Shadow Pokemon Lab, and finally Realgam Tower and the Snagem Hideout, taking down Cipher's admins and bosses along the way.
Snagging Shadow Pokemon¶
Cipher trainers carry Shadow Pokemon, corrupted Pokemon with darkened hearts. Normally you cannot catch a Pokemon during a trainer battle, but Shadow Pokemon are the exception: throw a Poke Ball at a Cipher trainer's Shadow Pokemon mid-battle to snag it for yourself.
- A ball only sticks to a Shadow Pokemon, and only on a trainer you are meant to face at that point in the story.
- The snag uses your ball's normal catch chance, so bring good balls and weaken the target first.
- Do not end the battle while the ball is still shaking, or the snag is cancelled. If the trainer has more Pokemon, the battle simply continues after you snag one.
- There are 48 Shadow Pokemon to snag across the whole region.
Cipher battles are always double battles, and Mega Evolution and Dynamax are switched off, keeping to the classic Orre style.
Shadows, hearts, and purification¶
Snagged Shadow Pokemon are not just a paint job. They come in escalating tiers, Shadow, Corrupt, Void, Abyss, Eternal, and Infinity, and each higher tier raises the level cap: Shadow is capped at 100, Corrupt at 120, Void at 150, Abyss at 200, Eternal at 400, and Infinity all the way to 1,000. A Shadow Pokemon carries a hidden heart gauge that opens as it battles and travels with you, and while its heart is closed it can slip into Hyper Mode and stop obeying you, so you may need to call it back to its senses mid-fight. Shadow Pokemon also learn unique Shadow Moves that ignore the normal type chart.
Any experience a Shadow Pokemon earns is stored up rather than applied. When you purify it, at the Orre shrine or with a Time Flute, it reverts to its normal self, relearns a proper moveset, and gets all that banked experience at once.
Realgam Tower¶
Near the end of the campaign, Realgam Tower hosts a gauntlet of six back-to-back battles against Cipher's toughest, each holding a snaggable Shadow Pokemon, ending with the mastermind Evice. Losing, leaving the arena, or logging out mid-run forfeits the whole gauntlet, so come prepared. Clearing it pays 100,000 the first time and 25,000 on repeat runs.
Orre achievements¶
Orre has its own achievement category, made of four separate challenges, each with seven tiers:
| Challenge | Tracks | Top tier |
|---|---|---|
| Snag Shadow Pokemon | Shadows you have snagged | 48 |
| Complete Story Quests | Orre story quests finished | 30 |
| Conquer Mt. Battle Floors | Floors climbed in Mt. Battle | 100 |
| Purify Shadow Pokemon | Distinct species purified | 1,025 |
The higher tiers pay out keys, Rare Candy, and cash bonds, with the purification ladder being the longest grind of all.
