Purification Shrine¶
The Purification Shrine is where you turn a Shadow-tier Pokemon back to normal for free. It is the standard way to purify; the Time Flute is the rare instant alternative.
Where it is and how to reach it¶
The shrine sits in the Orre region. You unlock it by completing the Relic Forest quest in the Orre story. After that, just walk up to the shrine with an eligible Pokemon in your party.
To be eligible, a party Pokemon must be:
- Shadow-tier (the shrine only accepts the Shadow tier, not Corrupt or higher), and
- empty on its heart gauge. The gauge drains as you battle and walk with the Pokemon; once it hits zero the Pokemon is ready.
When you come within about 20 blocks of the shrine with a ready Pokemon, green and white particles rise from it and you get a chat prompt that a Pokemon may open its heart. Step into range to begin.
What happens¶
Purification plays out as a short cutscene. Only one purification runs on the server at a time, so if the shrine is busy you wait your turn. There is no cost: nothing is consumed and nothing is charged.
When the cutscene finishes, the Pokemon:
- Returns to its Normal form (any regional variant is preserved, just no longer shadow).
- Trades its Shadow Moves back for a regenerated normal moveset.
- Releases all the experience it banked while shadow, paid out in one lump so it jumps to the level that XP earns.
- Loses all shadow data: the heart gauge, and any Hyper Mode or Reverse Mode state.
Once purified, the Pokemon levels, evolves, gains experience, and takes candies like any normal Pokemon.
The Time Flute alternative¶
A Time Flute does the same purification instantly, anywhere, without the shrine. It also works on any tier, not just a gauge-empty Shadow Pokemon, which makes it the only way to purify a Corrupt or higher Pokemon.
