Pickpocketing¶
Left-click any Pixelmon NPC wearing a recognized skin to pick its pocket. Pickpocketing is part of the Thieving skill: every steal is gated by your Thieving level, pays Thieving XP, and can go wrong.
How a pickpocket works¶
Each NPC has a required Thieving level read from its skin (a Bugcatcher is level 1, a Richboy or Madame is level 95). The XP a steal pays scales with that required level, from 250 at the low end up toward 10,000 for the toughest marks.
When you successfully pick a pocket:
- 1 in 3 steals pays money to your bank.
- The other 2 in 3 give an item from that NPC type's loot pool, with a chance at a Mystery Key (see below).
NPC required levels run in bands by skin type. A sample:
| Required Thieving level | Example NPC types |
|---|---|
| 1 | Bugcatchers, children |
| 5 | Artists, bakers, lasses |
| 10 | Doctors, monks, Nurse Joy |
| 25 | Poke Fans, Poke Maniacs |
| 40 | Battle Girls, Black Belts |
| 55 | Bosses |
| 65 | Knights |
| 75 | Scientists |
| 90 | Officer Jenny, police, rangers |
| 95 | Richboys, Madames, suits |
Money scales with the mark's level too, from a few coins off a Bugcatcher up to hundreds off the wealthiest NPCs. Pickpocket money is capped at 200,000 per login session; past the cap you still earn XP.
Getting caught¶
If your Thieving level is not far above the NPC's, the steal can fail and you get stunned. The odds of being caught depend on how far your level sits over the mark's:
| Your level over the NPC's | Catch chance |
|---|---|
| 10 or more | 25% |
| 5 to 9 | 50% |
| Under 5 | 75% |
When caught, the NPC turns and swings at you, a "What do you think you're doing?" callout floats over its head for 5 seconds, and you take:
- Confusion and blindness for 5 seconds.
- Damage scaling with the NPC's level, from 1 up to 12.
- A 5-second stun lock during which you cannot pickpocket or attack at all.
Prestige perks reduce or remove the stun chance entirely. See the Thieving prestige table.
Mystery Keys¶
An item pickpocket has a chance to give a Mystery Key instead of an item. The odds improve sharply with your Thieving level, from about 1 in 300 at level 1 to about 1 in 30 at level 99. Thieving prestige can upgrade the key to a Shiny Mystery Key.
Cooldowns¶
Each NPC goes on a shared cooldown after any steal or catch, so a mark cannot be farmed back to back. The cooldown scales with the NPC's level: 3 seconds at level 1, up to about 30 seconds at level 99. The cooldown is shared across all players, not per player.
Skill-job giver NPCs and NPCs currently aggroed as combat targets cannot be pickpocketed.
Cash registers¶
At Thieving level 65 and above, you can also rob Pixelmon cash register blocks out in the overworld. Right-click a register to crack it:
| Value | Amount |
|---|---|
| Thieving XP | up to 20,000 |
| Freshly restocked payout | $200 to $500 |
| Full payout | $10,000 to $20,000 |
A robbed register is empty for 1 hour, then restocks at the small payout and grows back linearly to its full potential and full XP 1 week after it was looted. At Thieving prestige 4 and above, register money is increased by 50 percent. Player-placed registers can never be robbed.
Prestige and other rewards¶
- Prestiging Thieving lowers the XP you earn afterward by 5 percent per prestige rank. Its perks also cut stun odds, upgrade Mystery Keys to shiny, and skip NPC cooldowns. See the Thieving prestige table.
- Pickpockets and register robberies count toward the Thieving job, clan tasks, and Thieving skill quests.
