Reverse Mode¶
Reverse Mode is the deeper battle frenzy of a Shadow-tier Pokemon. Unlike Hyper Mode, a Pokemon in Reverse Mode still obeys and attacks normally, but it hurts itself every turn it stays in.
Only Shadow-tier, player-owned Pokemon enter Reverse Mode. Corrupt and higher tiers never do.
How it triggers¶
There are three ways in:
| Cause | Chance | Result |
|---|---|---|
| You use a non-Shadow move | 30% | enters Reverse Mode; the move still runs |
| You use a Shadow Move | 30% to enter a mode, then 50% of those | enters Reverse Mode (the other half go to Hyper Mode) |
| You leave Hyper Mode unchecked | after 5 turns | Hyper Mode descends into Reverse Mode |
When Reverse Mode is entered off a move, that move still executes normally that turn.
What it does in battle¶
- The aura turns bright red. The Pokemon's purple shadow haze shifts to bright red while it is in Reverse Mode.
- It attacks normally. There is no obedience roll. Your orders go through.
- It hurts itself every turn. At the end of each turn it takes 6.25% of its max HP (1/16) in self-damage, with an "is in a frenzy and hurt itself!" message. This is the cost of Reverse Mode, and it persists across battles until you deal with it.
Ending it¶
Use /call during move selection. The called Pokemon skips its move that turn, and its Reverse Mode state is relieved and stays relieved as long as it stays in battle. You can call each Shadow Pokemon once per turn. See Hyper Mode for the full rules. Purifying the Pokemon at the Purification Shrine or with a Time Flute clears the state permanently.
If you never call it, the Reverse Mode flag carries over into the next battle and it will keep hurting itself as soon as it is sent out.
